Are you A Supporter?

GiveToCharity_Logo

Do you give to charity or support a non profit organization?

Now is the time to start.

One of the great things I love about my employer is that we support charities and employ adults with special needs.  During different times of the year we have our charity campaigns. Friday we start our campaign for Special Olympics.

My store teams up with the city police department for “bag with a cop”. The off duty officers give their time to come into our store and help with bagging groceries and helping customers to their cars. All for donations to the Special Olympics of Arizona.

The employees also help with donations by paying to dress down.  $10 per week to help a very worthwhile organization.

motto

So if you walk into a Safeway store please open your hearts and donate to this organization.

Goodbye 2012

Happy-New-Year-2013-HD-Wallpaper-6

2012 started as uneventful as any other year.  In February my niece and I started talking about going on a trip. At first we thought about going to Atlanta to see the set of The Vampire Diaries but that was going to be a little too expensive. So then we started talking about going to Comic-Con International in San Diego. Just a short 6 hour drive away. No problem. I said cool lets do it.  From February on our lives were all about Road Trip 2012 and what a road trip it was.

Our first stop when we arrived in San Diego was at the convention center and of course we had to take our pictures with the sign. Who wouldn’t?

Then we drove up to hotel circle and picked up our badges a day early. These are the epic bags you get for free. I think she traded for her Hobbit bag (I can’t remember). I got VERY lucky and got a TVD bag . You don’t get to pick what bag you get. They don’t even show you the front of it when they hand it to you and there are a dozen different bags so I was lucky to get the only bag I wanted.  Ok I would have settled for a Supernatural bag.

The next day started bright and early. We got in the Hall H line at 6am to see the cast of Twilight at 11am. Some people find it a little crazy to get up at the crack of dawn to sit in a line half the day but until you’ve done it and experienced it you will never understand just how much fun it actually is. We met so many cool people and lets face it we’re all a bunch of geeks there for the same reason. Not to mention the fact that if you aren’t in that line by at least 8am you won’t get into the hall.

Saturday at SDCC was freeking AMAZING! We didn’t have badges for Saturday but I’d found out (on Twitter) that the Extra TV show was setting up a stage right near the convention center and was having celebrity panel interviews every day of the convention. It took forever to find out what day which stars would be interviewed. So we got to the Extra TV stage at 7am, we were determined to be in the front row…and we were. Although we sat there all day, it was a lot of fun. We met some really nice people. Talked to the really cool security guards and met the stars from the Extra TV show.  We also watched actor Kevin Bacon’s brother Michael do sound checks with their band.

Sunday was another super early day. We were in the Hall H line at 4am. We had several panels we were going to see that day and once again met some great people.

After Comic-Con I didn’t expect much to happen for the rest of the year.

I’d been a financial supporter of ISF, Ian Somerhalder Foundation, for a while, then I got involved in supporting this amazing little company called Built Of Barnwood. Owned by Ian and his brother.

I got involved in this little group called the BOBArmy. We are a small group who all work together to support and promote this little company and it’s owners. I’ve made some amazing and lifelong friends. One of my co-volunteers/best friends/sisters and I started a blog for the company which became the only official blog for the company. We’ve done a few fundraisers as well. It’s a labor of love. We love our Somerhalders and we love each other.

Other things that happened in 2012…

1332634871892Yyl

Weight loss. I started in February at 265lbs in a size 26/28. Now at the end of December and the end of the year I am down to 188lbs and in a size 18.  33 more to go til my goal. The only problem with losing weight is that it sucks for the pocket book, however, buying new clothes is fun.

So that’s about it. On to 2013

So So Much Going On…

It seems as though I am always doing SOMETHING, never nothing.  Even though I am sitting here on my laptop for hours I’m not just playing around. I’m either doing blogs for my volunteer work, I’m writing or working on my ideas for NaNoWriMo, I’m working on graphic designs for my Built of Barnwood blog. Tweeting about BOB or working on the Facebook page for BOB. busy busy busy.  I talked to my dad Monday for his birthday and he said I make him tired just seeing all the things that come across Facebook. Truth is I make me tired too. It’s all a labor of love though. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t enjoy it. A lot of great things have come out of it all. I’ve met some amazing people.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s interesting how, as time goes on, social media changes. MSN groups and chat rooms started it all. Then came Myspace.  I remember there was a time when Myspace was the only thing out there and everyone in the world was addicted to it. Then came Facebook and everyone slowly migrated over to it. Myself  included.  It took a while to get use to and I remember starting my page, not liking it and sticking with myspace. Then as more and more people I knew were moving to Facebook I soon decided to conform and join the masses.  I haven’t been back to myspace since.  Then came Twitter.  Now I’m so addicted to Twitter it’s pathetic but Twitter is where I’ve had the most fun and met the greatest bunch of people and also where my sis Becka got me the ultimate follow. I won’t name names but I will say I’ve loved him since the 90’s and when I post pics of my guilty pleasures his will be in there..hint hint.
So while we’re talking about guilty pleasures. I’m also addicted to this little company I help promote called Built of Barnwood. I won’t say too much because I run a blog dedicated to it and it’s listed up on my blogs page. When I see an awesome “Nobody’s Perfect” cross on eBay, not only do I tweet it to promote it, I have GOT to bid on it.  I’m not sure if I need an intervention or not. I’ve got 3 so far. One I purchased without bidding and 2 I won bids on.  The latest was yesterday.  My bank account hates me. That is if a bank account can feel such an emotion, which I’m convinced it can.
Another guilty pleasure. Television. I have shows on pretty much every day of the week. Sundays are hard because 2 come on at the same time.  Now the difficulty comes by virtue of the fact (ha ha that was a quote) that 2 shows come on at the same time after I’ve gone to bed. So recording both on the DVR would lock up the TV so I’ve had to make a difficult choice. I chose TWD. There are only 2 shows I won’t, for any reason, make recording adjustments for. The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural. The world could be coming to an end, hell freezing over, the sky falling, you name it..I’m watching my vampires and my boys.
Guilty pleasure #1 and ultimate Twitter follower. Could you just die.
Guilty pleasure #2. 2 of the 3 eBay Nobody’s Perfect crosses from Built of Barnwood
My vampires and my boys.
Here I Am Back Again
For some reason I stopped blogging. I really don’t know why. So I haven’t been on this blog since January. Since than a lot has happened. The last post was about weight loss. Well I’ve lost close to 60lbs and several clothing sizes. I love the weight loss but it’s really not good on the bank account when I need new clothes. That part is fun. So here’s what’s been up. Not a lot. In Feb my niece and I started plans to go to Comic-Con in San Diego this past July. So we went. It was AWESOME! We had a great time. Saw some of our favorite famous people up close and personal. That was pretty cool. I also got involved in supporting ISF. That is the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. That has been the single most rewarding experience of my life. Through that I’ve met some amazing women and have gotten involved in supporting and promoting a little thing called Built of Barnwood. It’s a small business created by Ian and Robert Somerhalder. What they do is used reclaimed wood to create some amazing home decor. No trees are ever harmed in the making of these products. Check it out. http://www.builtofbarnwood.com I’ve gotten to know Bob very well. He’s the sweetest man, but don’t call him..You’ll never get the man off the phone.  My friend Becka and I started the “Official Built of Barnwood Blog” We’re endorsed and supported by the Somerhalders and the ONLY blog that is officially linked to their company. I was shocked when they agreed to allow us to do that for them. We promote the company and their products through the blog as well as make announcements regarding shipments and sales.  I’ve also started writing. It started as Fanfiction and I got a lot of positive response. Now I am slowly working it into general fiction. The story I am working on now is something very different than what I have written before. I was scared about it at first and I thought if I’m scared to do it then I NEED to do it. So I did and It’s getting awesome reviews.
I’m also getting into other blogging ventures. Becka and I did the Charitable Influence blog for ISF in August. In October we’re doing Blog Action Day over on our BOB blog. I’m probably going to add this blog too the lost of participants as well and today I saw a friend post in Google+ about BlogHer’s NaBloPoMo for the month of Oct. So I decided to join that with this blog.
Needless to say I’ve been a busy girl between work, road trips, activism, volunteering, fundraisers and blogging..When do I sleep? hardly ever.
So stay tuned for the first entry in the NaBloPoMo Daily
