NaNo Day 2

NaNo-2015-Participant-Banner

Last night I posted my word stats but they are actually wrong. After posting that I got a sudden burst of inspiration and ended the day with 5002 words. Which for me is a record for one day.

This morning I brought my total up to 6479 words and it’s only 10:25. Still a lot of day left and a lot of words to get out. My goal for today is 10,000 words. I think I can do it. If not, well…it’s not the end of the world and I am ahead of the game a little. If I keep this pace I will finish in 2 weeks. I am aiming for it. We’ll see.

Good luck to my fellow nano’s

NaNo Day 1

NaNo-2015-Participant-Banner

Not too bad a day for writing. Even with everything else I had to do today.

Church, laundry, lunch, another blog post. I still managed over 3000 words. Kinda proud of myself. I decided I would only post stats once a week. Much more than 2 times a week is a little annoying. At least to me. So here they are…

Word count is NaNo verified word count. Which is actually only one word short of my own count. Not too bad. I hope I can keep up this pace. The library and I are going to become good friends in the coming days.

NaNo-2015-Participant-Banner

And so it begins.

30 days of writing. 30 days of hell and trying to meet the goal of 50,000 words.

I’ve decided to try it again and give it a good honest effort. I have a good base to start with this year and am confident I can do it. However, I do have a life and a job so I can’t drop everything and make nano my life for 30 days but I can still give it a good effort.

If I win, I win. If I don’t it’s not the end of the world and life will go on.

Good luck to all you NaoNo’s out there.

It’s Fiction Friday what are you writing?

Here’s some of what I am working on…

Epilogue

The sun was beginning to set low on the horizon when I made my way to the campground I had chosen for my hunt. I always chose my hunting ground carefully.  When my clan and I settled in this small town we agreed that we would not hunt in town or close by. I always went to a bordering county, sometimes farther. I chose my prey carefully. Usually choosing secluded cabins in the woods or campgrounds.

It was the middle of fall and the night air had a chill. This night I chose a campground I’d been to a handful of times.  With the nights getting colder and the first snow only weeks away there weren’t many campers and soon there would be none at all. Tonight it didn’t take me long to find what I was looking for.

A man sat on a log beside his campfire, cleaning his shotgun. Having had centuries of practice, i was the master of silence.  I crept behind a tree and took a deep sniff, I only caught one scent. Again, I crept closer, like a cat stalking an unsuspecting mouse. All my senses were on alert.  The cool breeze blew my prey’s scent to me. I inhaled deeply. His scent made my skin tingle and my mouth water in anticipation of the taste of blood. Suddenly i was very thirsty and could wait no longer.

Creeping silently behind him, I grabbed the hunter, covering his mouth so he couldn’t scream and alert any campers that may be nearby.

“Don’t try to fight. It will only make this worse for you.” I said to him. My voice low and predatory. “You won’t remember any of this so just relax.” The hunter relaxed and went limp. I sat with him in my arms and ran a finger up and down the vein in his neck.  Feeling his blood run through it.

In my feeding I am different than most vampires. Others stalk their prey, feed and leave them for dead. However, feeding to me was as satisfying as any sexual act. I took my time when i fed. I took great care to cause as little harm as possible. I treated my prey with as much respect as I could under the circumstances.

Tonight my heart was pounding, it had been too long since I’d last fed. With my breathing low and heavy I sank my fangs deep into the hunter’s throat.  I was filled with ecstasy the moment his blood flowed into my mouth. I groaned with pleasure. As I drank I thought about the girl in the park. I didn’t know her name but I knew one day she would be mine. I thought of her beautiful long red hair. I thought of what it would feel like to take her to my bed and make love to her until we were both spent of any and all energy.  I imagined it was her blood I was drinking. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t realize the blood had stopped flowing. It was my first kill in decades.
